Hsu to build design market on Agere site

Proposal calls for 4.5 million square feet of space.

ORLANDO -- The former Agere Systems Inc. manufacturing site could be transformed into a wholesale design market with a global reach -- a move that would have an enormous economic impact on Central Florida.

WDC-O Holdings LLC is seeking approval from the Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission to build 3.1 million square feet of space on the site's 206 acres, which are bordered by State Road 528, Florida's Turnpike and South John Young Parkway. The company also wants permission for buildings up to 350 feet tall.
